An In-Depth Review of Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions
Game Review: Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions
Designing a video game around Quidditch must be a nightmare – with four different balls and unique player roles (seeker, chaser, beater, and keeper), integrating these elements into a cohesive experience is complex.
Despite these challenges, I cherished playing the 2003 Quidditch World Cup on my Gameboy Advance, reminiscent of the joy when my chasers earned enough points despite a missed snitch. However, 2024’s Quidditch Champions isn't quite the same.
Gameplay Dynamics
Unbroken Studios’ approach tries to balance Quidditch by allowing multiple snitch catches during a game, while keeping the action alive for chasers, beaters, and keeper.
- Practice Each Role: Players can practice unique moves for each position, leading to a single-player campaign spanning various Quidditch Cups.
- Multiplayer Challenges: In 3v3 formats, misplaced passes and missed tackles become issues, complicating the flying experience.
- Visual Experience: Durmstrang and Beauxbatons stadia offer breathtaking views, enhancing the magical atmosphere.
Overall Impression
While the gameplay offers fun elements, it suffers from overwhelming visual action and lacks polish. It's a decent experience for hardcore Quidditch fans especially if acquired for free on PS Plus.
