Hironobu Sakaguchi Confirms New Game Development
Hironobu Sakaguchi, a household name in the gaming industry and the father of Final Fantasy, is not retiring anytime soon. During the Tokyo Game Show, he presented FANTASIAN Neo Dimension, the enhanced console version of his acclaimed JRPG. This version will be released this winter on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
Sakaguchi shared insights with Famitsu regarding his new game project, stating, "I genuinely did Fantasian thinking it could be my retirement work, but yes, I’m getting back into it. We are starting to talk about a new project... that is, we are making a new game." This initiative will feature almost the same dedicated team that created FANTASIAN, marking a return to collaborative game development.
He expressed that game production has become more enjoyable than ever, and he is looking forward to being part of a creative team again. Sakaguchi added a personal touch by mentioning that he hopes to incorporate new experiences into his upcoming game project, as he will soon be welcoming a grandson.
While there's no official confirmation regarding the title of the new game, Mistwalker has previously filed a trademark named ‘Fantasian: Dark Edge.’ Fans are eager for news and updates on what Sakaguchi and his team are cooking up next.
