Ubisoft Delays Assassin’s Creed Shadows for Enhanced Gameplay Experience
Ubisoft Delays Assassin’s Creed Shadows Release Date
Ubisoft has officially announced that it is postponing the release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows, moving its launch date from November 15, 2024, to February 14, 2025. The delay comes after showing off 12 minutes of gameplay earlier this year, as the company seeks additional time to enhance crucial gameplay features.
The vice president and executive producer of Assassin’s Creed at Ubisoft, Marc-Alexis Côté, stated, “We realize we need more time to polish and refine the experience, pushing further some of our key features.” Motivated by lessons learned from the Star Wars Outlaws release, the studio aims to improve the game’s quality significantly.
Game Features and Launch Details
In a notable change, Ubisoft will allow all players to enjoy Assassin’s Creed Shadows at the same time on launch day, with those who preorder receiving the first expansion for free. This game will be available on Steam at launch, marking a return of Ubisoft's releases to the platform.
This installment will introduce unique gameplay mechanics with its dual protagonists, Yasuke, a samurai, and Naoe, a shinobi assassin, set against the creative backdrop of Japan. Shadows aligns its release with Obsidian’s upcoming RPG, Avowed, set to launch shortly after.
Ubisoft's Strategic Planning
Additionally, Ubisoft's board is conducting a review to enhance operational execution and align with a player-centric approach. Assassin’s Creed Shadows will also be ported to macOS in the future.
Stay tuned for more updates as the game nears its release date.
