Union Cabinet Establishes NCoE for Animation, VFX, Gaming, Comics & Extended Reality
The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to set up the National Centre of Excellence (NCoE) for Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality (AVGC-XR). This center will follow the successful models of the IITs and IIMs to primarily strengthen the animation ecosystem within India.
Aiming to make India a content hub that provides state-of-the-art offerings, this center will significantly boost India's soft power globally. Additionally, it seeks to attract substantial foreign investments into the media and entertainment sector. The center will be located in Mumbai, functioning as a Section 8 Company under the Companies Act, 2013.
The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will collaborate with the government to establish this prestigious institute of immersive creators.
