Hyderabad News Today: Techie’s Despair Leads to Family Tragedy Amid Debt Crisis

Hyderabad: A software professional allegedly killed his wife and two children before dying by suicide on Saturday night, reportedly due to financial losses incurred through online betting. Jeedimetla police said they found the bodies of Venkatesh, 40, Varshini, 33, Rishikanth, 11, and Vihanth, 3, in their apartment.

Before taking the extreme step, Venkatesh sent a late-night message to his parents informing them of his decision. He also recorded a video on his phone, stating that he had killed his three family members before committing suicide, Jeedimetla inspector Mallesh told TOI. Investigators determined that Venkatesh smothered his wife and children with a pillow before ending his own life.

He sent the message to his parents, who live in Mancherial, around midnight on Sunday and recorded the selfie video around 1.30am, indicating the sequence of events leading up to tragedy.

In the video, he explained that he had invested in betting and suffered significant losses. Unable to clear debts, he decided to end his life. He believed that if he died alone, his wife and children would suffer, so he killed them to spare them from that suffering, the Jeedimetla police said.
