China's National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) has recently licensed 117 video games, marking the largest batch in 2024, against the backdrop of Black Myth: Wukong's phenomenal release. This historic approval rate has been attributed to the ongoing enthusiasm surrounding Black Myth: Wukong, which has topped charts since its launch.

Licensing Landscape

The recently approved titles include Yirenzhixia from Tencent Holdings, Jiewai Kuangchao from NetEase, and Huangyuan Shuguang by Alibaba Group's Lingxi Games. The NPPA has now licensed a cumulative total of 850 games throughout the first eight months of 2024, a significant increase from only 609 titles during the same period in the previous year.
