The International Arts Festival in Shanghai aims to attract an additional 20,000 foreign tourists over one month through high-profile arts and cultural events, enhancing the local economy. The festival, starting October 18, features a range of performances from global superstars including the Munich Philharmonic, and Bryn Terfel.

With 700 shows planned, the festival is expected to welcome around 200,000 visitors, with 10% originating from outside mainland China. As Shanghai's most developed metropolis, the city is leveraging cultural tourism as a means to increase international visitation and strengthen its economy.

In addition, Shanghai has positioned itself as a prime tourist destination, home to famous attractions like the Shanghai Disney Resort. State efforts, including enhanced visa regulations, aim to attract foreign visitors, stimulating the economy and promoting investment.

Li Ming, president of the festival, emphasizes the global influence of the event, stating, “World-class artists will showcase dynamic performances that contribute to Shanghai’s vibrant tourism scene.”
