StarCharge and Schneider Unite to Transform the EU EV Charging Landscape

StarCharge Joins Schneider to Enhance EV Charging Facilities

StarCharge, China’s second-largest provider of charging equipment for electric vehicles (EVs), is expanding its international reach amid increasing tensions in Europe related to tariffs on Chinese-made vehicles. The company has entered into a partnership with French group Schneider Electric to establish a joint venture in Europe focused on advancing the electrification of the automotive sector.

Addressing Rising Demand for EV Charging Infrastructure

With a clear goal to supply premium EV charging facilities, the venture will offer cutting-edge infrastructure, photovoltaic inverters, chargers, and storage systems. Evan Feng, Chief Strategy Officer at StarCharge, stated, “There is high demand in Europe for premium EV charging facilities, and our partnership with Schneider aims to provide optimal solutions for local businesses and consumers.”

EU Tariffs and Market Opportunities

Recent EU decisions to impose additional tariffs of up to 35 percent on Chinese-built electric cars create challenges, yet they have not deterred Chinese players in EV technology. Feng emphasized that this collaboration seeks to blend Schneider's energy management expertise with StarCharge's innovative capabilities to support the European automotive market's evolution.

  • StarCharge operated 450,000 EV charging piles by the end of 2023.
  • Market leader TELD had 520,000 charging piles.
  • StarCharge plans to enhance overseas R&D contributions significantly.

This venture highlights the competitive edge of Chinese-developed EV technologies and points towards a robust presence in the global EV market despite tariff-related obstacles.
