Fisher-Price Recall: More Than 2 Million Infant Swings Linked to 5 Deaths
Fisher-Price Recalls Infant Swings
Fisher-Price is initiating a recall of more than 2 million Snuga Swings sold nationwide after the tragic suffocation deaths of five infants. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on Thursday, targeting all models of swings that were on sale at major retailers, including Amazon, Target, and Walmart from October 2010 through January 2024, priced around $160.
Of the recalled swings, approximately 2.1 million were sold throughout the U.S., with around 99,000 in Canada and 500 in Mexico. The recorded fatalities were associated with improper usage during sleep, and most incidents involved infants aged 1 to 3 months who were not restrained and were placed on bedding materials.
Consumer Action Required
- Immediately cut the tether to remove the headrest.
- Detach the body support insert from the seat pad before using the swing.
Fisher-Price is providing a $25 refund for swings where both inserts are destroyed. Parents and caregivers should refrain from using the swings for sleep or adding bedding materials, as these practices heighten the risk of suffocation.
