1. Carry-On Bag Fees

I want to avoid paying for a carry-on bag. United, for example, doesn't include a carry-on bag with its basic economy fare. Since I rarely check a bag when flying, I purchase regular economy airfare instead.

2. Seat Selection

When flying, I prefer an aisle seat for comfort. Most major airlines don't allow seat selection for basic economy tickets, so booking regular economy gives me more control over my seat choice.

3. Flexibility

Basic economy fares often come with restrictions on changes or cancellations. Having the option to change my flight is important to me, so I avoid booking basic economy.

4. Boarding Priority

Passengers with basic economy tickets board later, affecting bin space. Purchasing regular economy allows me to board earlier, increasing my chances of finding overhead space.
