The company produced 43 hydrogen fuel cell Class 8 semitrucks in Q1, delivering 40 to wholesalers with plans for the remaining three. Investors are optimistic about Nikola's progress in building out its hydrogen refueling network and recent advancements in replacing battery packs in returned trucks, driving the stock up by 10.8%.

Nikola Stock Surges as Fuel Cell Semitrucks Production Ramps Up

Nikola's long-awaited fuel cell truck is in production and 40 were delivered in the first quarter. Shares of electric heavy-truck maker Nikola (NASDAQ: NKLA) were moving higher on Thursday after the company said it produced over 40 of its fuel-cell-powered semitrucks in the first quarter.

Nikola is shipping its fuel cell semitrucks

Nikola said in a statement that it produced 43 of its hydrogen fuel cell Class 8 semis in the first quarter and delivered 40 of those to its wholesalers. The remaining three have already been allocated to dealers and will be delivered within days, the company said.
