Baht Currency Rate: Strong Performance Against the Dollar

The Thai currency, baht, has exhibited a strong appreciation from Friday's close of 33.33 baht against the US dollar. This surge is attributed to investor behavior as many are eager to sell the dollar in anticipation of the upcoming Federal Open Market Committee meeting on Wednesday. Additionally, a recent analysis from Kasikorn Research Center (K-Research) highlights that the Japanese yen temporarily reached a peak of 139.73 per dollar, its strongest position since July of the previous year.

Two-year Treasury yields have notably declined for the second consecutive week, concluding at a two-year low last Friday. This is largely due to renewed expectations surrounding a potential 50-basis-point rate cut by the Fed. Current market sentiments suggest a 59% probability for this rate adjustment, a significant increase from the 30% forecast from a week earlier.
